Blast rips through building in Hama, Syria - 4/25/12



An explosion ripped through a building in Syria's central city of Hama according to this video posted to a social media website.
The blast left 12 people dead and wounded dozens more according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Violence has continued in Hama despite a two week U.N.-Arab League brokered ceasefire.

Taliban torch two NATO fuel tankers in Afghanistan - 4/25/12



The Taliban militants have attacked a convoy of tankers transferring fuel to US-led forces in Afghanistan, setting fire two of them in the country’s Herat Province, Press TV reports.
The highway linking Herat to Kandahar has recently been turned into an insecure route for convoys carrying fuel supplies destined for US-led foreign forces in Afghanistan.
Insecurity remains persistently on the rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of tens of thousands of US-led troops.

Bomb attack injures Bahrain policemen - 4/25/12



A bomb explosion has wounded four members of Bahrain's police force - two of them seriously - during clashes with protesters, officials have said.
Police said the injured men had been protecting firefighters investigating a blaze inside a shop in the mainly Shia village of Diraz on Tuesday night.
During the operation a "terrorist" bomb was detonated nearby, they added.
One underground group has threatened to carry out attacks on security forces in Bahrain

Pakistan bomb kills at least two in eastern city Lahore - 4/24/12



A bomb killed at least two people and injured at least 27 others when it exploded at the main railway station in the eastern city of Lahore in Pakistan's Punjab province on Tuesday
Five of the wounded are in a critical condition in hospital, a health official told Reuters. In January 2011, a teenage suicide bomber blew himself up near a religious procession of Shi'ite Muslims in Lahore, killing at least 13 people and wounding more than 50. Islamist militants have carried out bombings across Pakistan in retaliation for military operations targeting insurgent groups in recent years. In February, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest outside a mosque in a Shi'ite neighborhood in Pakistan's northwestern Kurram tribal region, killing at least 26 people.

Rumbling Mexican volcano keeps residents on alert - 4/23/12



Mexico's famed Popocatepetl continued to spew columns of ash and gas into the air on Monday.
Mexico's National Center for Disaster Prevention raised the alert level for Popocatepetl to yellow phase three from yellow phase two last week, indicating possible magma expulsion and explosions of increasing intensity. It is the third-highest warning on the center's seven-step scale.
